After pre-render, my clips are in “slow motion”

I’m new to this forum and I realy hope you can help me.
I have a realy annoying problem with Premiere Pro CS6 (Mac). For a few weeks now, I’ve been filming with the GoPro Hero3 and I decided to use Premiere Pro to make a nice little movie out of the footage. Since I read before that Premiere Pro and the GoPro .mp4s don’t realy get along, I used GoPro Studio to convert the .mp4s into .wavs, so Premiere Pro would be able to handle it smoothly.
At first it all seemed to work out just fine but as soon as I pre-render a clip, it is displayed in “slow motion” but with the same duration – hence, the end of each clip is apparently cut off. Even if I go frame by frame or I just look at the last frame of the video, it is obvious that the end of it is missing.
HOWEVER, as soon as I export the project as a .mp4 or .wav or whatever, the video is just fine again. No slow-motion, no cut off end of each clip etc.. So far so good, but it is impossible for me to edit anything, to find the right timing to cut and so on, as long as I neither see the actual speed of the clip, nor it’s actual end of it.
I experience the same problem with the .mp4 files but NOT with .mov files from another camera I own.Has anybody an idea what might cause this and/or how to fix it!?

My first guess would be that you are recording at a higher frame rate than what you are then transcoding to, which will in effect be slow motion when played back. For instance, if you are recording at 60fps(frames per second), then transcoding to .mov (doubtful that you are transcoding to .wav) at 30fps, your playback would be at half speed.

I am also a Premiere Pro user on the Mac platform experiencing this very same problem. My videos are captured via Hauppauge HD PVR 2 (video game footage) at no more than 30 fps. The raw files are captured in the very strange .m2ts filetype, but I transcode them to H264 .mp4’s before introducing them to Premiere. It’s only after pre-rendering that they become slow motion and have the ending cut off. I have not tried exporting the result to a new .mp4 as the OP did, because I simply have to edit so much of these clips to make them viewable.
I will say that these problems were not occurring for me before I switched my operating system to Apple’s new Mavericks, so I’m prepared to accept that that is the issue.
