After Efffects & Exporting to Youtube
Hi,
I create alot of tutorial content for Youtube and want to take advantage of the new “Higher Quality” videos that you may now upload to Youtube. I am having problems with the settings I need to use from After Effects when exporting my movie clip out so that it appears as High Quality in Youtube. Can anybody give me the settings that I need to use that would enable me to export these clips out and have them appear as High Quality in Youtube??. If possible I would like the clips that I export out to be optimal in quality and with the lowest filesize possible.
If anybody has experimented with this and could guide me on solid settings that work 100% of the time I would appreciate it.

I upload High Definition to YouTube all the time so this should work
If you are trying to get the “Watch in High Quality” button at the bottom then export it MPEG-2 for very high quality, or video for windows if you want to reduce the file size.
That’s just what I’ve been using to date and it works very nice.
People will say that h.264 is better but it reduces quality too much
I’ll make some great things with this

There is a great article on Ken Stone’s site regarding this topic. Incidentally, High Quality video on YouTube is in the H.264 format, so, it makes more sense to render out using that codec.
