After effects text output and video looks half resolution
Posted by Deleted User on October 20, 2005 at 5:10 pmHello,
I have noticed that on my PAL Broadcast Monitor my text output looks very rough and fuzzy as if it’s being viewed at half resolution.
However on my computer monitors the text is clean and crisp? I am using a Decklink Extreme with latest drivers from the Blacmgaic Design website. I’m using Adobe After Effects 6.5 Pro with the latest update.
Graphics ATI X700
I look forward to hearing with any one with the same problem?
Leo

October 21, 2005 at 6:30 amHi Leo,
What format of video are you using, eg DV or uncompressed 10-bit? Is this a new problem or has it always occurred? If it is a new problem, can you think of anything that has changed which might explain the problem?
If you output to deck, does the rough text get recorded to the deck or is it only a monitoring problem?

Check footage interpertation, it could be wrong aspect ratio.

October 21, 2005 at 8:49 pmHello. Excuse me, my english is poor. AE preview one field only, not the whole frame. This is only the preview in monitor, in the rendering process AE use the two video field (whole frame), of course.

October 21, 2005 at 10:52 pmHello,
I am working with the Adobe After Effects preset PAL D1/DV 720X576. Even when I render my composition out to Blackmagic Un-compressed 10 bit 4:2:2 with field order as Upper field 1st I still get this really annoying broken text as if it’s half resoultion on my PAL monitor and tape.

October 25, 2005 at 11:21 pmI did a re-install of XP PRO with my co-worker today, just finished installed XP PRO, service pack 2, and then all my Adobe video collection v1.5. I then installed just the ATI X700 graphics drivers without any of it

October 26, 2005 at 5:13 amHi Leo,
We’vre receivd your project file. Interestingly enough, this problem shows up when I brought the project to a Mac running After Effects 6.5.
It turns out that your composition was set to use OpenGL as the rendering plug-in. Please try changing that to Standard 3D and see if it helps.
regards
Kristian

October 27, 2005 at 12:52 amHello Kristian,
I emailed yourself and Andrew earlier, yeah it works great when I disable OPEN GL it’s a really bizarre problem.
I have emailed Adobe about this to see if they know what causes this?
