  • After Effects running really slow. Open GL problem? please help!

After Effects is running very slow while masking!
I didnt have this problem until I rebuilt my computer. Im running 4 gb of mem and plenty of free harddrive space.

Moving/creating masking points is horribly slow! Could this be an Open GL problem???
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

if disabling opengl in the previews pref doesn’t help, or doesn’t help as much as you think it should, tell use more about you system (# of processors/cores, os, ae version, drives, cache settings in ae). we may be able to give you some more help…

    Hi

I think I know what your problem may be as I had this myself and it totally stumped me…. Do you have your after effects pumping out to an external monitor? Like a broadcast monitor? I know it sounds weird, but when I had my settings to preview out to my broadcast monitor, it was like it was sucking all of the graphics card memory form the computer, even drawing and moving a simple mask was really laggy, once i disabled the setting back to monitor only, everything sped up dramatically. I would try that…..
