I’m pretty new to using After Effects and Premiere Pro and have what many will consider a basic question. Let’s say I have a 20-minute video clip already on my harddrive and watching through the video I see five or six “sub” clips I’d like to extract. I know how to create a subclip in PP but that doesn’t save it as an independent file – correct.

So let’s say that one of the subclips is jumpy and I’d like to stabilize the footage in AE (or color correct or add some other effect). What’s the best way of doing this?

Currently I slice up the clip in PP, export it as (say) an .AVI file, open the .AVI file in AE, add the effect and render, the re-open the clip in PP as a new asset. That seems like a lot of work. I’m willing to do this in order to achieve the end result I’m looking for but if there is a better way I’d appreciate someone letting me in on it.

    Thanks!
