Help! I’ve been trying to render a composition that’s around 10 minutes with various effects such as colorista, Rebel CC vignette, and time remap. Everytime it gets to the time remapped portion, it crashes with an out of memory error. My export settings are a quicktime movie (short on time!), 1440 HDV 24p. Anyone know how I can fix this?

    System-
    Mac Pro 2.8 quad core
    7300 gt
    3 gigs ram
    FW800 external HD (scratch disk)

Search “secret preferences”: hold shift (pc) before selecting memory-cache preferences, in pull down menu click on secret and set purge every 15 frames during make movie. This will clear the rendered frames and hopefully stop your memory errors.

How do I fix this on a mac? Holding shift doesn’t work in OSX.

Cheers, I’ll try that. Never knew about the secret menu… thought I was using a compositing package, not Mario! 🙂

hold down control+alt+shift go to the preferences and select memory & cache once you are there select from the drop down menu, that takes you to the other preferences, the secret menu.

    hello
i have a simillar problem. i try to render a pretty simple comp, with time remap. whenever it gets to a certain point on the rendering – it crashes, and announce the after has no memory . when i try to render again – after renders the problematic frame without a problem…(in every render session it uses about 20 percent RAM and crashes when it gets to about 50)

tried to get to this secret menu but couldnt. what am i doing wrong and is there any other way to get there?

im using pc, 3 giga RAM. after cs3.

please help! i dont know what do anymore:( (and i cant render each frame by itself! which apparently is the only solution i got so far…)

    thank you
    noy.

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Also opens a secret menu with a button which will spawn a green mushroom saving you from AE crashing/hanging
