Is there a way that I can import an After Effect comp into Avid and have it maintain the original layers of the AE comp? I don’t think so, but thought I would throw it out to da cow.

Nope. You can take full sequences from Avid to After Effects and maintain all cuts and layers if you use Automatic Duck, but it doesn’t work the same in reverse. You’d have to render every layer seperately in AE, import into Avid, reapply transfer modes using a Transfer plug-in (Boris, Sapphire, Ect…), etc…. More hassle than it’s worth. But Automatic Duck looks mighty cool for taking sequences from Avid to AE!
