After Effects immediately crashes upon startup on G5
Hey everyone
After Effects immediately crashes on launch, on my Quad Core G5. I first had version 8 installed, then tried version 7. With both, AE immediately crashes when launching. It doesn’t even get to the splash screen before crashing.
I’m running a Quad Core G5, with a Blackmagic Decklink Extreme and Final Cut. I regularly edit uncompressed 1080i footage, so running AE shouldn’t be a problem at all.
I can’t figure this out, and my searches on Creative Cow and Google have come back empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I’m really under the gun here.

Contact Adobe.
The problem is probably not AE, but something it is loading. (fonts, plugins, codecs, etc.) -
Thanks, Jason. That thought hadn’t occurred to me actually – I’ll give them a call.

Just to follow-up on this for the archives, it was a corrupted font issue. I deactivated all my fonts, except for the basics, and all the Adobe apps load up properly.
