  • After effects error: cannot insert item into a locked list. Help!

    Posted by Noizzz on January 24, 2006 at 9:21 am

    Hi all,

    when I try to create a new solid in my pretty filled up comp I get this error, I also get it when I try to paste layers from another comp into it :

    After effects error: cannot insert item into a locked list.

    ( 27 :: 38 )

    What does it mean. There are no layers locked.

    Which plugins are you using? Try disabling (with the “f” button) those effects present at the trouble spot, then get back to us.

    I get that message sometimes, usually when running low on Ram or with very many layers.
    Purging, or closing and re-opening the file fixes it.

    Me too. It was not related to any fx on the layer.

    Reproducing the layer did not help either (writing down all the keyframes and recreating)…

    Quitting and restarting did fix it.
    I am using Gridiron.
