Hello, i have rendered a spot for a company using the avid meridian codec, the client found the render to have bad quality during the avid playout but the quicktime file looks ok, it could look better, but many of the eye sores were gone… i am trying to export the project again, but i am having a problem…

i usually use the render que, but doing some tests we come up with good renders but only using the setting from the expot menu from the file…export…drop down menu…

    the error reads…

After Effects error: Quicktime export failed –
    QuickTime codec error (-8963).

    then after clicking “ok”…

After Effects error: deleting file “project name” – file not found (-43).

if anyone knows a work around i would appreciate it…

    thanks a lot…

    Aaron,
I’m not sure why you are trying to export with the Avid Meridian codec but for the best quality in AE I would suggest using the render queue and outputting a Quicktime movie with the Quicktime Animation codec (set to best quality, of course).

There are plenty of articles on the Cow about outputting, rendering and codecs so check those out. Avid can ingest quicktime movies just fine.
