Ok I can barely work for a minute in AE with out having it crash. There seems to be no relation between the things that make it crash. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling AE to no avail. I have a project due this friday and I am on the verge of doing a fresh install of windows in hopes to fix the problem. The problem started occuring immediately after I installed a demo of trapcode’s Echospace. I tried uninstalling it but it didn’t help. I know this is a pretty vague post but if anyone had any suggestions I’m all ears.

ok Its late, I moved all my plugins and fired up AE. No problems. So it seems as if there is a plugin somewhere giving me the headache. Just gotta sift through and find the bad plugin and I should be good.

If you find the solution please repost. I am having serious problem with AE6.5 crashing, especially if I try to move a layer on the timeline. The only change I have made to my workstation is loading the latest version of iTunes. (When I updated iTunes it gave a warning, “You will have to reorder QuicktimePro”

I see a post from earlier today where someone else had a simular problem after loading iTunes 6 (I loaded iTunes 5 which also installs Quicktime7). That must be my problem also because I have never had any problems with AE6.5 before now!

Just a guess, but maybe the AE preferences files didn’t get cleaned. Check in your users files for the your after effects preferences. Delete it. After effects will create a new one next time you launch.
