  • After Effects Crashing at Render or RAM preview either.

Posted by Elliot Pollaro on April 12, 2007 at 4:30 pm

My after effects keeps crashing when i try to do a RAM Preview or a final Render. I have a duplicated video layer with a 15% gaussian blur and a CC Toner applied with a overlay blend on top of it. It keeps crashing whenever i try to RAM preview it.. or if i want to export it, it still crashes.

    What should i do?

    Tried…

    1) using a different piece of source footage with the same effect?

    2) Copy/paste the layers into a new project, try it then?

    3) Restarted lately? 😉

Seriously though AE7 is the most buggy program I have at the moment. Bring on CS3. I frequently get “Cant insert item into locked list” problems that only quitting/restarting AE7 can fix.

Are you able to render with out the CCtoner plug. I’ve had problems with the cc plugs in the past. It’s usually been an install issue for me. If you can render with out the plug, I’d try re-installing it.

Sorry, I just re-read your post and realized your running the new intel Mac. Your CC Toner Plug is a CycorFX plug. They have posted that they are finding problems with their older plugs when being run under Rosetta. You can find it at the bottom of this page. https://www.cycorefx.com/index.php They posted a universal update for their HD set which is a paid upgrade. You might want to contact their tech support to see if they have a universal update for the regular plugs.

[jujuelliot] “i reinstalled my after effects”

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to just re-install the plug-in itself. It’s a seperate install usually on the the install disk.
