  • After Effects crashes when rendering on 8 core?

Posted by Dallas Malone on March 27, 2009 at 12:22 am

Hey,I searched forum but could not find a answer

Well I have been running after effects cs4 fine on my mac xeon 8 core with 4 gbs of ram osx leopard, but today i upgraded to 16gb ram and now everytime i render after effects crashes. I think it involves multiprossor settings?Does anyone have an optimal preference setting for multiprocessing?

Help is much appreciated, thanks 😀

From my experience – the best multiprocessing settings are: “OFF”.
I tested it on several projects and found out that only few of them were rendered substantially faster using multiprocessing.

The other issue is RAM. I hope that this is not your case, but I know people who tried to save some money and bought RAM not from Apple, but used some RAM that “should work fine”. They experience many problems.

Not sure why it’s crashing but check this out, how much RAM is too much?
