    hi guys,
i have a really big problem with AE 8.0.2
I’m using it on a powerful machine,
    Mac Pro
    Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz, 2 processors, 8 cores, 12Mb L2 Cache, 32Gb RAM
    osX version is 10.5.4

The problem is quite simple, AE just crashes everytime! when i scale movies, scrub the timeline and simple things like this.
I don’t really know what to do! I had the same problems on other computer with similar configuration, but for example on my macbook pro with tiger works perfectly.
    Anyone knows something?
I also tried the OpenGl Plugin trick but it didn’t work!
    Thank u!

What resolution is your composition? AE CS3 crashes all over the place with multiprocessing and more than 6 processors if the composition resolution is above 2k. See this article:

    https://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402403&sliceId=2

Depending on how often you work 2k or above, it might be worth following the instructions to restrict the number of render processes to 6.

I normally work in 1280×720, so I haven’t done this and don’t normally have a problem, but I run in to trouble and have to disable multiprocessing when I occasionally do have to work with something larger…. it sucks and I hope they fix this soon.

thank you, i’m gonna try right now.
I worked on quite big compositions but i have the same problem also on a 720×28
It seems to me that is some kind of codec problem.
If i work with the caps lock on so that i can’t see the videos, After Effects works perfectly.
It only crashes in processes that involves video visualization or manipulation.
For example: if I scale a layer with the caps lock OFF it crashes; caps lock ON no crash.
Move layers with CL OFF -> crash; CL ON -> no crash.

what can it be? I have quicktime 7.5, not the notoriusly bugged 7.4.
Maybe I have to uninstall all the softwares like MPEGStreamclip, Cleaner XL or stuff like this?
    Ty guys
