Hi I want to create a motion graphics demo, flying through 3D space with a host shot on greenscreen to be in the center of it all. I want all the motion in the main comp to be smooth 24p, but each graphic asset within its 2D precomp to be at a slower frame rate, such as 8fps, because I will add a cartoonish wiggle effect using the “turbulent displacement” effect to the assets to be preserved at the 8pfs framerate. But I want to have their full “transform” smooth motion available in the main 3D comp.

I tried using posterize time, however this effect preserves the slower frame rate through to the main comp. I tried making the precomps a slower frame rate but the turbulent displacement effect within the precomp became smooth as soon as it was nested, adhering to the 24p of the main comp. I tried applying the “preserve framerate when nested or in render queue” but the effect continued to animate smoothly at 24p in the main comp. My only other option is rendering all of the assets out at 8fps and then re-importing them for animation, but then I will lose the ability to continually rasterize the vector images I created.

Anybody know how to make this work?

    Thanks!
