This is a BIG problem! Now, I can’t OPEN After Effects! When I try opening it, it says: After Effects Warning: Error parsing properties list. When I try opening it a second time, it says it has crashed! Help please, thank you! 🙂

An xml file may be corupted in AE. Here is what i would do:

    – update AE

    If still not working

    – back up the folder called 9.0 ( from…AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\9.0 folder)
    – AFTER THE BACK UP delete the entire 9.0 folder.
    – AE should open fine now

Try restoring the default preferences. From Preferences [link] in the documentation:

To restore default preference settings, hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) while the application is starting. To also restore default keyboard shortcuts, Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac OS) the OK button.

Have you tried restoring the default preferences as Walter suggested?

If still doesn’t work you can find the 9.0 folder easy. Just type “%appdata%” without the quotes in search box on W7 or in Run on Xp. Then you go to Roaming\Adobe\After Effects and you will see the 9.0 folder.

REMEMBER: Make a copy of that folder first as backup and put it in some place safe just in case something goes wrong and you revers the process then delete it and try opening AE again.

    See how it works,

    Thanks,

Thanks but it says I can’t delete the folder because it is in another program. I have nothing else opened but that folder. Please help, thanks! 🙂

See if there are AE sequences open. Ctrl+Alt+Esc and look for workin programs the task manager. Close any related to Adobe.

If doesn’t work, try rebooting your system.

And last resort a clean reinstall of AE.

    Thanks,
