After Effects Best Practice?

Is recreating your design (created in Illustrator) within after effects using shape layers/lines etc. best practice to have maximum control over your animations? Importing an illustrator design (after separating into layers) does not appear to give me all the options when compared to recreating them within after effects..

June 21, 2022 at 1:05 pmHi Angela for the best workflow you possibly want to turn your vectors into AE shapes. You gain more control of the animation, and shape layers. One thing a person also has said to me is that a large complex heavy illustrator files converted into shapes will bog down after effects a lot. Also check out these resources: I’m sure your aware of the plugin from Battle Axe: Overlord, which aids you into bringing your vectors into after effects. Also on youtube search: The best Adobe Illustrator to After Effects workflow, for a very in depth analysis into this subject.
