After Effects and ATI Catalyst 8.12
Hi guys.
I purchased a pile of new PC components and I am waiting for them to arrive tomorrow. If everything is fine, by tomorrow evening I will be able to assemble a pretty decent PC out of those parts.
The graphics card that I purchased is Radeon HD4670.
ATI just released their Catalyst 8.12 driver package and it is said that it dramatically changes the performance of the Radeon graphics cards (the ones from the 4000+ series) by doing one very important thing: unlocking the inbuilt ability of the cards to act in aid of the PC’s CPU.
This means that the card will improve After Effects CS4’s performance by taking part in the rendering of the video and in the applying of the effects.
It is also said that this driver update makes the PC a lot faster in general.
Well, in theory…I would like to hear some feedback from people who already have installed the new 8.12 driver update.
Is the jump in productivity really that noticeable when working with After Effects CS4?
Does your AE CS4 work a lot faster after the driver update?
Thanks!
