  • after effects and 8bit to cineon output…

    Hey afx gurus-
got a question. I’m converting some animation i did (which is 8bit linear) to 10bit log and I have a few questions on the actual cineon output parameters in AFX.
When you open the cineon options, it gives you “video” “standard” and “full range”
I previously exported a test frame from afx using the “full range” option (which they told me they wanted) and the film shop told me when they checked it on their end, the blacks were crushed? I don’t see how this is possible when i’m exporting full range? Or maybe the original 8 bit (cause there are a lot of dark places in the image) caused them to think that? I sent them a 8bit render as comparison material, so they know what it’s supposed to look like normal.
should i be exporting to video or standard so that it adjusts the black properly?
    thanks for any info
    -cheers
    Chad
