  • After deleting FCP undo render files no video in Self-Con QT

Posted by Lenore Malen on January 2, 2010 at 8:40 pm

None of my self contained Quicktime files have video. This occurred after deleting
1.3 gigs of FCP “undo render files” in render manager to free up space.

I did this after trying to render files and getting FCP message saying “no space on disk” to render files and further message saying delete files in Render Manager to free up space.

For my FCP generated QT files the default had been set to open in FCP, but I changed that yesterday to open in QT.

But even QT files made after the change have no video.
Also QT made on another computer no longer play.

Thanks anyone for a suggestion of how to fix this.
Do I need to undelete the “undo render files” and how can I do this?

Thanks to Stuart, Rafael, David and Roli,

I re-rendered the FCP project and that seems to have done the trick.
Still don’t understand the underlying architecture, why this should have happened because QT was not even reading QT files that were created on another computer but all is ok now.
