  • After data migration to RAID 10 mov files require converting to play?

Posted by Rob Longo on February 28, 2016 at 10:27 pm

Running OSX 10.5. I have a Lacie Thunderbolt 4TB HSF drive enclosure. The Lacie had some bad sectors. Went to migrate all the data to a RAID 10 setup. Some of the H264 mov files that were exported out to clients won’t play now in Quicktime they require converting. What would cause this? If this isn’t a good place for an issue like this or more detail is required to diagnosis please advise.

    Thanks in advance!

its nothing to do with Raid 10 and more to do with QT itself and the way it works (or not).

If file is generated on one system it puts data which is compatible with that particular system which means again that data might not be 100% compatible with your system hence conversion. Maybe you used different QT player maybe not, but why not to try some other player or version and see how it works..
