I just finished our first project with the AF100, and the client wants a nice big 1080p H.264 version as a final deliverable.
Therefore, my output settings from FCP was a quicktime conversion to H264 at “best quality” multi-pass with no frame re-ordering, and “all frames” were keyframed.
Image plays back in quicktime with unacceptable amounts of noise, especially in the shadows and saturated colors. Looks the same if I import the output back into FCP.
I tried another render thru quicktime conversion as 8-bit uncompressed, and though the noise was drastically reduced, it was still present.
Has anyone else run into this? I have never seen so much noise added in the output stage with footage originating with other cameras. (And all the graphic elements in the output are nice and noise-free, it’s just the camera’s imagery)
    Still running FCP 6.0.5 btw
    Thanks!

I’ve never had much luck with QT conversion from FCP. I always send out a self-contained QT with the sequence settings and encode from there.
