AEFX CS5 not starting : initializing mediacore
Installed CS5 Production Premium upgrade on my W7-64 system, and also still running CS4 suite. Problem is AEFX CS4 runs fine, but when I try to start CS5 it stalls on “Initializing MediaCore” and then comes up with an error message about QT not installed on my system (even though it is).
But… if I create a new user and log in to that side, AEFX CS5 starts no problem. What gives!??!?!?!
This is driving me crazy!! Any help would be greatly appreciated since Adobe support is non-existent…

You might try this
rightclick on the AE Cs5 shortcut and click start as administrator…
I had the same Problem back with Premiere CS3 and that helped..

Though this is an old thread; for future searchers:
You probably have dynamiclinkmanager.exe and Adobe QT32 Server.exe still loaded, though adobe has crashed or closed. Kill those first, then you can open it.
Also allow the adobe applications access through the firewall:

I used to go down the ‘deleting app data prefs’ route which I now can’t find any reference to but this is a nice new one on me and worked!
