  • AE7 timeline layout issue…

Greetings all, I hope today finds you well.

I just upgraded to AE 7 on my MAC and am getting used to the screen layout system on my dual monitor setup. After some initial struggles, I have it how I like it.

The problem is, on the lower right hand screen the timeline window is losing its bottom set of controls (zoom in/out, expand blending mode switch etc.) as the menu bar on the top of the screen (after effects – file – edit – composition etc) is ‘pushing’ them off-screen. When I drag the timeline to the left screen there is no upper menu to push it down so it works ok. But I don’t want my menu on that screen!

The control in the bottom right of the timeline window that would ordinarily allow me to ‘drag up’ the bottom edge of the window has also been pushed off screen. Unlocking the panel works but obviously I’d rather not do that.

Anyone had the same problem? If I could flip the top menu to the other side of the screen that would help too but I doin’t know how…

    Cheers chaps

    Nico

I mentioned something sort of related to htis last month but got no answer…

On my PC I was trying to get rid of the ‘application title-bar’ on top of my left screen, to give myself a bit of extra breathing space, but can’t work out how to get rid!?! I wasn’t there when I first installed AE7, but then all of a sudden it was there! It wasn’t before, so there must be a way.

    Any ideas?

Sorry Nico, that didn’t really help your question.

hmmmmm well i got round it in the end by dragging a kind of ‘sacrificial window’ to below the timeline window: something i never use, like brush tips. Then made that window very small, almost invisible, so it ended up pushing up the timeline window to the point where all of its bits were visible…
