I am just learning AE, and am using the 30 day trail. I am trying a very simple walk cycle animation about 8 minutes long. I am six minutes in, and upon reviewing it, my position keyframes on the horizontal axis at the beginning have gone haywire. Insane values that I have not added. I hankered down and went through to restore the keyframe values manually, but they keep going off. I don’t get it and am about to give up as my 30 days is almost up, and I haven’t been able to really explore because of this. What am I missing that they won’t just lock down?

Make sure your not parenting and then moving things you don’t mean to. Also, make sure you are keyframing appropriately. I find its better to animate characters in other programs then import them into after effects as a comp.
