    AE7: Adding New layer at Play Head

    In previous versions of AE, when I’d drag a new layer into the timeline, it would add it from the time point on where the playhead is. In AE7, it ads it at the beginning of the comp. Is there a way to have it work like previous versions of AE?

    You can just hit begin bracket and it will put the layer at the CTI.

    Or just go into the preferences and uncheck the second option in the general tab. “create layers at comp start time”

    Go to Edit>Preferences>General>uncheck Create Layers at Composition Start time
