  • AE6 okay on a Mac G5 Quad or dual core?

I’m about to make a big purchase for me and buy a Mac G5 Quad or dual core 2.3 with a nVidia 7800 GT video card. This is a PCIe machine where as the older G5s had PCIx interfaces and video cards. I know the change has caused a need for a patch/ hack to get FCP 4.5 working on a PCIe G5 and was concerned that there might be a similar conflict with AE and the new G5. The alternative is to buy a new copy of AE as my version is academic and cannot be upgraded.
So I was wondering if anyone’s running AE6 on a PCIe G5 or heard if this works okay. Honestly, I’ve been searching all around these posts and adobe’s site, but I can’t find the answer.
So thanks ahead of time for any help as this is a big purchase for me and I don’t want to make a mistake I’ll regret!

Bought a Quad a month ago and I run AE 6.5. I use a dual 2.7 at work, with AE. My home mac runs it WAY better than the 2.7 – it’s really slick, especially when you’re gliding the camera around. Renders are quicker to, as you’d expect. good luck.

Cool, thanks for that. But have you heard anything about AE6? Again, I don’t think I can upgrade to 6.5.
    Thanks again for the help!
