AE white text animation is muddy in AVID.
Posted by Andy on May 10, 2005 at 12:15 amI’m creating white text in AE and rendering quicktime animation with alpha for importing into AVID DV express. Upon importing, AVID sees the white areas as gray when the text dissolves from 0 opacity to 100. Any idea how to clean that up. Some systems I’ve worked on have a button called “shaped video” which gets rid of black edges on alpha channels and pict files. Can’t locate any such monster in AVID.
Help.

May 10, 2005 at 12:40 amOpen your AE project,go to the compasition you rendered, click the menu:composition->background color, change the color into white. Then render your animation again. After that ,go to AVID,the gray text will become white.

May 10, 2005 at 1:51 amI just posted a very similar problem only its black on white. I can’t get it clear. I have a few things to try but this is very odd. I never had this problem before. Let me know if you figure something out. I’m not using Avid but rather Premiere.

May 10, 2005 at 2:24 amI got acrossed a simiar problem months ago,but I used Premiere nor Avid at that time. However I think they are probably the same on this subject.Did my suggestion work?
If it worked,I think I got the orderliness :in similar situation ,you must render a white Text animation on white backdrop and black text animation on black drop.
If you wanted me to figure out the reason,I’m sorry because it’s too hard for me to express it in English.I can not write English so well.I can only tell you that it’s because something about how alpha channels work on a image.

May 10, 2005 at 2:32 amI am using black text on a white background in Illustrator. Are you saying it should be black on black instead ?

May 10, 2005 at 2:47 amIn illistrater???Are you importing an AI file into Avid?If you are importing a Targe file into Avid,it must be black on black.
If you are importing an AI file into Avid, maybe there is something different. But change the backcolor into black would be no harm and maybe can solve the problem as well. Why not trying it?****************************

May 11, 2005 at 4:44 pmThis worked. Thanks for the info. I also learned that it works for glows around images and text. Replace white or black with any color and that color will bleed through any transparent areas.
So thanks again.bubba
