AE warning: failed to initialize media core
Hi I just installed AE CS3 and when I open it, I immediately get this error message: “failed to initialize media core”. Also AE CS3 does not let me import any movie or audio files. I made searches on google and creative cow and came out with nothing.
My system: I mac G5 1.8 Ghz power pc
1.25 Gb ram
Mac osx 10.4.11
Quick time 7.1.5 -

I had this happen after opening a project that had worked before upgrading to leopard. I had tried trashing AE preferences which didn’t work. After seeing others post their solution as re-installing the OS I felt discouraged. The fix is actually to update Quicktime to the latest version since it has been fixed to work with AE. I figured there was a relation between AE and QT considering the formats AE outputs as well as how much QT has affected AE recently. I hope this helps!
