There is a new promo for NBC’s Law and Order SVU where the actors “walk” through text in 3D space. I was wondering how this was done and is there a simple way to recreate it?

My guess would be it is 3D Motion Tracked into the frame and the rotoscoped out as the character passes through, great effect!

    Nice.

The tracking would have to be done in something like Syntheyes, not AE.

Mask off the text and adjust the mask frame by frame. It’s probably not as many frames as you think. It’s a lot of work doing it this way, but it would work.
