Activity Forums Adobe After Effects AE to SWF

    Hello Everyone,

Not sure if this goes in the flash section or AE, so I thought I’d start here.

I just found out that an animation I created in AE is supposed to be exported as an swf, 50k max size, with the URL hard-coded in the file. I know how to export a fla and play with the size setting as well as how to ad a marker that creates a link, but how do I hard-code a URL? How do I get the file size down without loosing quality? I don’t have/know flash, unfortunately. Any tips are GREATLY appreciated!

    Thanks!

    KEN!

That is the best information I’ve been given yet! I do have sorenson squeeze. Do you know which swf setting gives the clearest resolution and the smallest size?

I didnt’ know that sorenson could hard code a url. I’ll see if I can figure that out.

    I can’t thank you enough!

I believe you can do this in AE, but I’m just looking around in my setup and I can’t find it.
Personally I have learned that AE really doesn’t do the best job at Flash compression. Aharon Rabinowitz would probably agree.

I use Sorenson Squeeze for Flash and it does a great job of compressing my animations as well as having some abilities to do what your asking for. Hard coding URLs in the SWF file is done in Sorenson before you export to SWF. Not sure how you go about after you have one.

Another thing you might want to ask is if your file can be an FLV and have the SWF player load it up. Newer versions of the Flash player appear to favor this method of delivery. It is what Adobe is using in their Adobe Media Player.

Sorry if this isn’t much help if can’t get Sorenson Squeeze.

    Hey Ken,

Found the hard copy url box. I’ve got that no problem. But it’s hard to get the file to look good at 50k. Any comression suggestions?

    Thanks!

How is the video going to be viewed at? What I mean is, how are most of your viewers going to connect to your site and watch it? Broadband? Dial-Up? There should be some presets that Sorenson supplies for you. You can go off of that and experiment with 1 or 2 sec clips to see what results look best.
The presets are pretty good but it is a matter of tweaking from there that is all based on your video footage your trying to convert. Results may vary.
