I’m inheriting a project that began in AE and the producer wants to play around with the edit significantly. This is easier to do in Premiere and I hardly know AE, so I’m trying to export the project to Premiere, but each time I do, several audio tracks disappear or are mixed into one. The AE file has 18 audio tracks but there are only 5 in Premiere.

I’m making the PPro project file from w/i AE via export – export to Premiere Pro Project.

I’ve done many searches, but I’m getting nowhere, so any help is appreciated!!

I also have very limited knowledge in After Effects as well and sometimes I prefer a lot more to edit sound clips in Premiere Pro or Sony Vegas directly. I believe whats going on is that the audio clips edited in After Effects are using different resources and functions within After Effects that are not available in Adobe Premiere Pro even if they are both made by the same company. After Effects is mostly used for advanced graphics that may seem limited to Adobe Premiere Pro cause its a dedicated Video Editing software even if some graphics can be integrated in it but not its main focus. Thats probably why you are unable to import the audio in Premiere Pro as is from After Effects, its a theory but I have ran into compatibility issues before between applications, even different versions of the same one. No 2 applications are made the exact same.
