    HI –

I wanted to ask if any Kona users can tell me wether or not the Kona introduces the same gamma shift as the Black magic card when going form After Effects to FCP?

This is the most recent discussion of the problem.

The easiest way to check is to make a solid in AE, add a ramp effect that goes from RGB 0 0 0 to RGB 255 255 255, and then render to the 10bit codec. Import this clip to FPC, drop it in a timeline and look at the waveform monitor. The line should be straight. With BM10bit, there is a curve, showing that the image is brighter than it should be.

If you could help me out on this, I would appreciate it. I would readily get a Kona if this is not an issue on their cards.

    Thanks.

I just tried it. I rendered to the Uncompressed 10bit codec. There is no curve at all in Final Cut and it seems to match exactly to the preview output of After Effects.

BTW: I have a 2.5 Dual G5 running Tiger and Final Cut 5.0.4.
