AE renders not coming in anamorphic

That’s not nearly enough info Jason… We’re not there to look over your shoulder, so how do we know what format you’re working with in FCP or what you’re rendering out of AE?

Hey Thanks David, as I said
“After Effect renders (ProRes 444 codec)”

As far as what I’m working with in FCP…it shouldn’t matter…I’m not referring to anything in my timeline…and I’m importing a clip…so it’s completely independent of any SEQ settings.
But here it is: Format in FCP –
timeline = NTSC DV anamorphic
timeline codec = NTSC DV

Format in AE – ProRes 444 (to make use of realtime alpha)

You have to check the anamorphic box as there’s no metadata tag in the QT dialog to tell FCP otherwise.

Pixel Dimensions would have helped, as ProRes 444 can be SD or HD and I wasn’t sure if that was an issue.

But how when I open a clip digitized by FCP in AE, it recognizes the 1.2 PAR? That would mean there is metadata in the QT file. Right?

I gotcha…sorry. I’ll try to be more clear in the future.

You and Jeremy have answered a ton of questions in the past for me…so I really appreciate the time you guys take. I’m coming from AVID and I really feel that having Media Composer as a second option is really a good idea. There are some real shortcomings with FCP…but some things that blow AVID out of the water…it’s fun learning all this new stuff!

Becuase that metadata is in the QT file, yes, as you captured it that way in FCP. But when writing back from AE, that metadata does not get stored in the new file, unfortunately.

While you are helping me. I can’t in in the manual. Is there a way to actively scrub audio without going into “audio scrub” mode? like hold down a modifier as you are dragging to scrub?
