I just bought an HP Z840 workstation (24 xeon cores)but for some reason AE is only 1.2 times faster than in my 10 year old workstation, while it’s 15 times faster for Maya and Unity rendering compared to my old workstation.
Not sure why AE rendering didn’t get faster, am I missing something?
(win 10 – gtx 1080).
The Ae renderer works very differently than 3D renderers. If you want to get more performance out of a sizzlecore beast like your Z840, check out Mekajiki RenderGarden: https://www.mekajiki.com/rendergarden/
I use this on ours — it works similarly to the old multiprocessing feature in Ae CC 2014 and prior. You do need a lot of RAM, but you can get that big performance boost back on final renders.
The only settings that will affect your project’s render speed are general disk cache settings (put this on a fast disk, preferably SSD), and the GPU acceleration project settings (which are on by default if you have a supported GPU).
