    Aloha,

I am trying to render a reel from an HD movie in After effects and I keep getting the following error about half way through:

After Effects error: could not create 1920×1080 image buffer

This reel is all cuts, CF30 HDV footage, edited in FCP5 and sent to AE6.5 with Automatic Duck. In AE I did color correction with Color Finesse. When I render out the 30P comp like this everything is fine.

We made the error of shooting 30P and for distribution we need 25P also. No problem, I used Twixtor to convert 30p to 25p. At first I applied Twixter to the entire comp and it worked, but most of the cuts had blended frames.

So I put Twixtor on every clip in the Comp. We have 9 reels in the movie and on the first couple comps the render went fine. Now on the third reel I keep getting this error about half way through the render. I have gone into the Secret menu and told AE to purge memory every 5 frames and that didn’t help.

This render is about 50hours on my dual 2.5 G5 with 2GB ram, and it keeps crashing about 16 hours in. So I have spent a lot of time trying to figure this out.

I have searched everywhere and have not found a solution. Does anyone know how I can get past this?

    Mahalo,
    Dusty

there is a setting in preferences that adjust the percentage of ram used set it to 50% or less, ensure that you have set the virtual ram below this to a reasoable figure.

With problematic renders I sometimes need to set the secret prefs to purge every 1 frame… All my material is in 1920×1080 as well… And sometimes I’ve found some frames just seem to be cursed so I just render around them or try to isolate the prblematic plugin or layer.

Yes. I get this alot when I use the MotionTile plugin togheter with a Blur.

Can’t create blur on image, blabla. While in render he is only using 30% of my 1.5gig.
AE seems to have some mem problems. Strange that on PC you cannot go higher than 2gig and osx you can!
