I’ve been trying to render a slightly complex 3D Sequence and my render fail just a few frames in. The error is: could not create 720 X 486 image bufer.

The entire comp is only 20 layers. There is a fairly complex camera mover but effects are not too crazy (Trapcode particular, shine) with only a couple of layers slightly larger than the comp size.

I’ve tried a number of things to help, such as adjusting my preferences in memory/cache and choking back the render quality but nothing has really helped.

Any ideas out there? Thanks for the help.

Are you working on an Intel Mac?

Try tweaking the “secret Prefs”. Hold shift when you select prefs, then click general & you should see secret at bottom. Set it to purge every 10 frames. If it still crashes reduce the number until it works. It slows down your render a bit but it might help. Also how much RAM do you have?

I was thinking of doing that. I never have but figured that since it crashed so early it didn’t have many frames cached behind it. I have 8G of ram. I think I might give up on this render as when I saw the 1o frames I did successfully the forground element didn’t look as hot as I thought. I’ve been trying to find some concert goers to do this arena animation and I haven’t found anything worthwhile, I suppose I’ll have to buy some on green screen if I’m to continue with satisfying results.

Thanks for your help and when my other render finishes I’ll try the ‘secret’ Thanks again I’ll keep you posted.
