AE realtime preview on “old” MacPRO 8 cores
Hi, I have AE CS3, MacPRO 8 cores 8GB memory and HDLink Extreme, but I can’t scrub on timeline (SD project) and to see same things on my preview monitor. I have also a DecklinkSP on an old and lazy PC, this time AE CS2 (AE7), but I can see same time on preview monitor what I see on computer monitor. BMD told me is because my computer (sorry I’ve made my biggest mistake not to wait 4 months) but anyway my “old” MacPRO 8cores is not so bad, not so fast of course :). Second… they told me is because AE? I’m very confused. Is anybody here who have not my problems? Thank you!

Hi Bogdan,
Firstly, I would like to ask you if it’s possible to playout something from your HD Extreme card (I assume this is the card, we don’t have a HDLink Extreme 🙂 ) in Final Cut Pro or our included Deck Control player?
Secondly, are the DeckLink output options available in your After Effects CS3’s Video Preview preferences? What is it that you see on your preview monitor when you scrub?

Hi, Kristian, you have right Decklink HD Extreme, sorry.
So.
First: I can output from FinalCutPro, and is very stable. Sometimes is black and white, but If I check again output options on system preferences, everything goes back. That’s happened after awhile (and I think but I’m not sure only in Leopard). Anyway is not a problem.Second: I have all options available. When I scrub on timeline everything goes black (on the output monitor, not in AE) until I stop, when the image reappear in accordance with cursor position.
But… realtime works flawlessly. And by the way, I can switch between AE, FinalCutPro, Motion, without any problem. One thing that I can’t do, is to preview from Shake 4.1. Not in Tiger 10.4.11, not in Leopard 10.5.2!That’s not happened on DecklinkSP, AE7 and my “old pal” PC (I mean preview while scrubbing). This help me a lot, because I can see and analyze movements, otherwise I need to do realtime preview over and over and over (big time consuming most of the times).
