  • AE paths to animate illustrator brush strokes…

I’d like to use AE’s trim paths to animate some simple vector shapes, but have these lines use the nice array of art brushes that can be applied to vector strokes in Illustrator. … Any ideas?

Most resources understandably pertain to getting paths from illustrator into ae… and obviously not the other way… but it would just be so much cooler to be able to apply illustrator’s brushes.

    Thanks for any help/suggestions/ideas…

I don’t think you can get AE shape layers into AI….

You can get AE mask paths into AI via copy/paste (and the other way around too)… You can’t use trim paths on a mask path, but you can use the stroke effect on mask paths, so you might be able to use stroke as an animated matte to reveal the AI brush artwork.

You can also get AI vectors to AE shape layers by importing the IA file, dropping it into a comp and choosing layer>create shapes from vector layer… though i’m not sure that helps you out much here…
