AE output to 16:9 dvd plays blurry on plasma
Posted by Todd Morgan on May 2, 2005 at 3:28 pmHi there,
Any thoughts as to why a 720×480 16:9 would play back pixelated on a plasma 50″ screen?
Thanks!

If the source video doesn’t look pixellated, it could also be the up-rezzing in the huge screen. NTSC video just doesn’t look very good on large screens… Especially if the upscaling technology isn’t very advanced.

Anyway lik Barend said, if we do the math:
a 50 inch screen is prob. about 43×24 inch that gives you about 16dpi horizontal and 20dpi vertical.
By no means razorsharp.
Add to that the inherent fuzziness of those bigscreen-plasmas.
If it’s for a presentation you should think about HD or data-projection if you really need a clean look.
