    Hi,

I’m importing OMFI 2.0 files (Avid Express Pro HD) into AE6.5. The files are DV PAL 25P (4:2:0). Import works, but the video is ‘squashed’ to half its vertical height in AE.

This only occurs at full resolution; drop AE to half res., and the video is of the correct dimensions. OMF PAL 25i files import/display perfectly, so it’s something to do with the OMF 25P. Altering settings (correctly or otherwise) in the AE Interpret Footage dialogue doesn’t help.

Any thoughts? Sure would be great to directly open the Avid source files in AE… 🙂

AE’s OMF media reading does have problems, looks like you found one of them.

    Hi again,

Tried Automatic Duck Pro Import 1.0 on a colleague’s system (using a link media OMF export)… similar problem: interlaced OMFs import fine, but the Duck doesn’t understand the PAL 25P files, instead generating the “Unsupported Media” error.

    Nice timeline import, nontheless. 🙂

    DV25P isn’t supported in 1.0, I believe support was added in 3.0.

Right, so short of Automatic Duck 3.0, any ideas or options from anyone? I’m currently doing a raw QT export from Avid for any shots that need AE, but this is time-consuming and inflexible.

    Thanks!

Looks like QT exports are your last resort.
