  • AE not importing layered Illustrator files as layered comps…

    Hi,
I am having a bit of an odd problem. I’m working on an old G4 15″ Powerbook, in AE6.5 using Illustrator CS2 to make some images, which I am then importing into AE6.5 as layered comps….this works fine.

However, when I want to do the same on a new macbook pro, using illustrator 10 or CS3 the illustrator document won’t import as a layered composition.

If anyone can tell me why this is happening and what I can do to stop it I would be very grateful because it’s confusing the hell out of me!!!

    I hope someone can help,
    Many thanks,
    Martin.

If you’d like to send me the file I can test it for you on my system.

    Hi Guys,

I’m actually experiencing the same problem. I’ve been working on this machine for 2 years (G5 running CS2 and AFX 7 – obviously this has been updated from 6.5, but many months prior to this situation arising) and I’ve never before had a problem importing illustrator files or photoshop files into AFX as comps. It’s something thats happened in the last couple of weeks.

I can open the photoshop files as AFX comps on another identical computer and all the layers appear seperated, but if i import that project onto my machine suddenly the seperate layers just disappear in AFX…

There must be a setting I’ve somehow selected in AFX. Any ideas folks?

    Thanks guys in advance!

    Sam
