AE move, but convert to 2’s
hey guys, i have an after effects object with just the position changing & i want to convert it to move on 2’s, but i dont want to change the frame rate of 24 fps. i obviously dont want to hold keyframe every other frame.
any ideas? i posted this in the expressions area, cuz i thought maybe one could be made, but im really new to expressions.

Either of these, applied to the keyframed property, should work:
posterizeTime(12);
valueor,
valueAtTime(framesToTime(Math.floor(timeToFrames(time)/2)*2))

AH! i almost had it, i was just missing the value part. ok so since im new to expressions, what does the value part mean?

That’s just the pre-expression, keyframed(or static) value. In other words, it’s the value you get when you turn the expression off.

bizarrely enough, i just switched my project from cs3 to cs4 & the posterizeTime expression dosent want to work any more, even if i redo it all & retype it in. BUT the valueAtTime….. works no prob. Any explanations? expressions are so beyond me
