    Hi there,

I’m quite the rooky in AE – Just trying to do a screen replacement.
I started getting this problem when trying to apply a mask, see the
screenshot – like it’s masking more than the actual mask edges.
Anyone have an idea what I’m doing wrong here?
    Any help much appreciated, thanks!

Hi Doyle, thanks for your reply.
That does make the mask work thanks,
but doesn’t that mean it’s not tracking any more?
I just want to feather in the edges of my replacement
    screen which i’ve tracked.
    thanks

Your insert layer MUST be the same size as the composition where you apply the Corner Pin tracking data.

Place the insert layer into another composition and scale the layer to fit the composition size – the CTRL+ALT+F shortcut key does this. Then nest this composition into your ‘final comp’. Then apply your Corner Pin tracking data to this nested comp.

Thanks a lot for the tips Roland,
that must have been it, because
I scaled down the layer to fit into
    the screen.
    Thanks everyone!

If you need to blur the edges of the insert layer, apply Effect>Blur and Sharpen>Channel Blur AFTER the Corner Pin. Then tweak the Alpha Blur value to taste.
