AE mask animation?
Is there any way to animate the horizontal or vertical position of a mask on a layer?
For example, in Macromedia Flash, you can create a mask as an object and animate it across another object. Is there a way to do this in AE?
Do I need to create another layer with the mask only? How do I do this?

you can animate the mask shape property. In order to move the whole mask, make sure you have all the points of the mask selected, then set a keyframe for the mask shape, move the whole mask to a new location and set another keyframe.
