AE makes footage Jumpy – Help!
Hi Guys!
As you can guess I’m new here so I’d just like to say what a great site this is.
Anyway – I’m woring on a project and the original video file is perfect (no jumpy-ness) but when I import it to AE and start working with it, it becomes all jumpy. When I check the original its still perfect. (This is annoying because all of my effects become muddled and nonsensical) I tried reloading the footage – this worked for a while, but not any more.
Any Help would be much appreciated!!

PS Does anyone know why my AE doesn’t output audio? All other audio apps (media player, iTunes etc) work fine.

do a RAM preview and see if it goes away. and also, you might have interpret fields backwards.

when previewing are you hitting spacebar or zero on the numbers keypad? you should hit zero on the numbers keypad to render the preview to ram, to avoid potential disk speed/data rate limits and jerky preview playback… which may be what you are referring to by ‘jumpy’.
for audio, make sure that composition>preview>audio has a check mark by it (if not select it and it will). you may also need to check the audio mapping preferences in ae to see where ae is sending the audio signal. i would set it to the same output as the itunes, most likely the ‘system default’ mapping choice. if you have extra hardware for audio, you can choose that, but it can be more difficult to troubleshoot third party stuff.
