AE in Leopard great now, except…
With the latest QT and the latest Leopard everything seems great in AE. Been working in in nearly 25/7 for the last few weeks.
Except, it crashes fairly frequently when I’m trying to rename a comp in the project window. Seems it happens when I press return to rename, then try to drag my cursor across a portion of the name to highlight it. – When I miss with the cursor, and click say just outside the name, it unhighlights and the mouse then actually grabs it as if I were about to move it to another folder, etc. But when I realize my error and release the mouse, bingo AE crashes and gives me the error message saying a copy has been saved.
Kudos to AE, it always saves a copy on the crash and I don’t lose anything. But it’s getting really annoying. Anyone see this?

That has been happening to me too. And it’s random! I could be rendering a minute long gfx heavy clip without a problem but it will crash constantly on a 20 second very simple gfx clip.
I’m running AE CS3, Leopard 10.5.2 and QT 7.4.1.
Don’t really know if that is the reason but I’m currently using 4x 2.5 GH PowerPC and I’m switching to an 8 core one over the weekend. Will see what happens and if the same problems happen.

Doesn’t happen when I’m rendering. This happens when I’m simply renaming a compy in the project window. For your rendering issue, make sure you’re running the latest AE. 8.0.2.

I have a similar problem when I try to rename any item in the project panel. If I’m too quick and click away before typing an new name I crash with an error message.
I’ve learned to tread gingerly and slowly when using the project panel.

Exactly. Tonight I took it slow and methodical. No more clicking and typing quickly in the project panel. You’d think the project panel would be bug free, but nope. And I’ve found very few if any bugs with AE over the years. Usually they’re related to QT or OS conflicts.
