AE footage not Full Resolution
When importing some footage into AE that I recorded on a videocam it looks pixelated, even at Full resolution. The pixilation is not bad, but looks like about half resolution. It does not look pixilated when I inspect it in Quicktime or FCP. When I render the footage in AE, it comes out similarly pixilated. What do I have to do to remove the pixilation? Other footage I import into AE does not have this problem.

is the footage DV if so are you just looking at the DV artifacts?

Have you checked the “/” quality sertting box in your layer settings?

Looks like it could be an interlacing issue to me…
I had tapes come back looking like that once – the DOP had shot some weird ‘progressive’ mode (not really) that gave us 1-field instead of two – effectively 50% resolution as you say.
Not saying that that is what is happening here, but it look similar to my eyes. Check the ‘interpretation’ of the QT in AE, and make sure your field order is around the right way…
