AE Error Opening Sound Component (-2166)
I know I have seen these posts in the archive, but I don’t want ot go digging yet. Has anyone found a fix to this error? the AE error “Eror Opening Sound Component” happens every time I do a RAM preview to play it back (the only way to get audio play-back as far as I know). Any help would be VERY usefull.
If it helps I am running AE 6 and 6.5 on a G4 laptop 1.6 G. OSx10.4.6

I thought this was a QuickTime problem. Try updating to the latest (7.1) and it should clear up.
You can also hear audio in AE by using the . key on the keypad (Audio-only preview) or hold Option (ALT on Windows) when scrubbing the timeline.

The audio that I am using are mov.s that were converted from mp3s. I tried it with aiff’s and had the same porblem. I upgraded to QT 7.1 and now it still has the error initialy, but once I turn off the visibility of the layer and then back on again, the problem disapears. So now it has gone from a major problem w/ QT 7 to an anoyance w/ QT 7.1. I just can not believe that apple can distirbute a product that si a major component for all apps creative, and is seriously flawed. Grrrrrrrrr.
