  • AE doesn’t see Media Encoder — need to export H264

I need to export using something that will give me smaller file sizes than ProRes, etc. I found tutorials about how to use H264, but whenever I try to add to Adobe Media Render Que, it says that Media Encoder is not installed–but it is ! I use it in Premiere all the time. I just updated it to see if that would make a difference, but it doesn’t. AE keeps telling me it’s not installed.

    Any suggesstions?

Have you updated AE along with Premiere? All of those programs should be around the same release versions for the programs to see each other.

There is a long-running issue with AME and the rest of the Adobe (associated) Apps.

I just ran into it again with CC2021. I have to roll back to 2020 to use any AME workflow.

I have no idea why this is happening, but a workaround would be to export a master file from AE (using the same codec as the source media) and use that in Media Encoder.
